WHO IS JONAS AND WHY IS IT CALLED AN ATTIC ? Jonas Steele was an aide to President Lincoln during the Civil War and attended seances in the White House with Mary Todd Lincoln. She often tried to communicate with a son of hers and Abe's that died in childhood. Jonas was an officer and was with Lincoln when he negotiated the end of the war , the stern wheel from that steamboat is in the Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, MD. He enjoyed discovering other cultures, Native American healing, and collected many books on other religions. If he were alive today we think these are the things that you would find in his attic. The attic also represents the higher mind in consciousness, and since our first location was on the second floor, it was a most fitting name for our colonial era town.
